The WST-485BDX54-B2 is WINAICO’s Ultra Black panel built on WBC back-contact cells. Like AIKO’s back-contact range, all the wiring sits on the back of the cell, so there’s not a single gridline or busbar on the front. That does two things: more of the surface collects light, and the panel has a properly clean, all-black look (black cells, black-printed back glass, black frame) with nothing breaking it up. At 485W it runs 23.8% efficiency, which is up among the highest residential panels around. The back-contact design also helps in two real-world situations. When part of the panel is shaded, the cell-level bypass limits the loss to a single cell rather than knocking out a whole section, so your output holds up better under a tree branch or a vent shadow. And the one-line welding structure cuts edge stress, which lowers the risk of micro-cracks over the panel’s life.
It’s a tough, well-built module. Unlike a backsheet panel, it’s glass on both sides (2.0mm each), which seals the cells better against moisture, UV, and salt air. It’s rated for design loads of 5400Pa front and 2400Pa rear, with test loads going much higher, carries an IP68 junction box, and holds a Fire Class A rating, the top fire classification. It also passes salt-mist, ammonia, and anti-PID testing, so it’s suited to coastal and rural Australian roofs.
Where it really stands out is the warranty. WINAICO backs it with a 30-year product warranty and a 30-year linear performance warranty, with the panel guaranteed to still produce over 88.85% of its rated output at year 30. That 30-year product cover is longer than most panels on the market, which typically run 25 years.
