SolarEdge ONE EV Charger

The SolarEdge ONE is an EV charger built to work as part of a SolarEdge solar system. Instead of just charging your car off the grid, it can prioritise the solar your panels are making and run the car on that first. It handles up to 22kW on three-phase supply, installs indoors or out, and comes as either a socket version (you bring your own cable) or a tethered version with the cable attached and a lock option.

Where it earns its keep is the smart charging.

Because it talks to your SolarEdge inverter and the mySolarEdge app, it knows what your panels are producing and where the power is going. So it can charge the car from excess solar first rather than pulling from the grid, hold back so the whole-house draw doesn’t trip your supply (load balancing), charge during the cheapest hours if you’re on a time-of-use tariff while still having the car ready when you need it, and on three-phase homes switch between phases to grab whichever one has the most spare solar or capacity at the time.

There’s also a predictive layer. It looks ahead at expected solar, power prices and your usage up to a day out, and adjusts charging on its own so more of it runs on solar and cheap power without you changing settings.

It comes in two versions. The Standard does everything above. The Pro adds what a workplace, shared car park or fleet tends to need: built-in mobile (LTE) connectivity, RFID card access so only authorised people can charge, and a certified, billing-grade energy meter for reimbursement or tenant billing. Both charge at the same speed. The Pro’s hardware is also built ready for Plug & Charge (ISO 15118) and future two-way charging (V2H and V2G), which would arrive later through a firmware update, so treat that as protection for down the track rather than something it does today.

At home you can run up to three of them on one site for a multi-EV household, and choose whether the car is allowed to draw from your home battery. Installation is quick, with a snap-on wall plate and most setups done in under an hour, and it comes with a 3-year warranty that can extend alongside the rest of your SolarEdge system.
