The H3 PRO is the part of a solar-and-battery system that does the thinking. A hybrid inverter takes the DC power coming off your panels and your battery, turns it into the AC power your home or business runs on, and decides moment to moment whether to use that power, store it, send it to the grid or pull from it. The “three-phase” part matters here: this one’s built for properties on three-phase supply, which means larger homes and small commercial sites rather than the average single-phase house.
It comes in six sizes from 15kW up to 30kW, so you can match it to the size of the solar array and the loads it has to run.
A few things worth knowing.
It’s built around high-voltage batteries. The H3 PRO pairs with Fox ESS’s own HV battery range. Running the battery at high voltage means less energy is lost moving power in and out of storage, which is what people mean by round-trip efficiency, so more of the solar you store actually makes it back out again. There are two battery inputs, each handling up to 50A of charge or discharge, so it can fill or empty a big battery bank quickly.
It keeps you running in a blackout. The built-in backup (EPS) switches over in under 10 milliseconds, fast enough that most things in the building won’t notice the grid dropped out. Backup runs across all three phases at up to the inverter’s full rating, with a short 60-second peak above that for starting motors and the like.
Plenty of room for panels. Three independent MPPTs (the inputs your solar strings connect to) let you run panels on different roof faces without one dragging the others down, and you can fit up to roughly twice the inverter’s rating in panels. On a 30kW unit, that’s up to 60kW of solar.
It’s efficient. Peak efficiency is 97.2%, and the MPPTs track at 99.9%, so very little is lost in the conversion.
It’s built for the outdoors and for safety. IP65 rated for outdoor mounting, with surge protection on both the AC and DC sides, anti-islanding, insulation and leakage detection, plus optional arc-fault detection (AFCI) and a built-in DC isolator.
You keep an eye on the lot through the FoxCloud 2.0 app or web portal, which now includes an AI assistant to help make sense of what the system’s doing. And if one inverter isn’t enough, up to 10 can run in parallel for a bigger site.
