Sigen Energy Gateway

The Sigen Energy Gateway is the box that gives a SigenStor system proper whole-home backup. It sits between your switchboard and the grid, and its job is simple but important: the instant the grid goes down, it disconnects your home from the network and keeps it running on your solar and battery, then reconnects when the power comes back. Without a gateway, a SigenStor can store and use solar, but it can’t take the whole house off-grid cleanly in an outage. The gateway is what makes that happen.

The headline feature is the switchover speed: 0 milliseconds. Most backup systems take a moment to cut over when the grid fails, long enough that you’ll see the lights flicker or a computer drop out. The Sigen gateway switches with no interruption on the load side, so the house just keeps running as if nothing happened.

It also takes a generator input. For a long outage, or an off-grid property, you can wire in a backup generator and the gateway will manage it alongside the solar and battery, so you’re not stuck if a blackout stretches over days of bad weather.

There are three versions for Australia, sized by how much power they can back up:

  • Gateway Home SP, single phase, up to 12kW
  • Gateway Home TP, three phase, up to 30kW
  • Gateway C60, three phase, up to 60kW, for larger homes and small commercial sites

All three back up to 96kWh of stored energy and pair with up to two SigenStor units. For bigger commercial jobs, Sigenergy makes larger gateways that tie together as many as 50 SigenStors, though those are a specialist fit and worth a chat with the installer.

One honest note: how much of the house the gateway can carry in a blackout depends on how much solar and battery sit behind it. It’s worth sizing the system to the loads you actually want to keep running, rather than assuming any setup will run everything.

You set it up and keep an eye on it through the mySigen app, the same one that runs the rest of the system, and commissioning takes about 10 minutes.
