The Vertex S+ 475W is Trina’s low-voltage rooftop panel, built off feedback from installers who wanted a module that’s easier and cheaper to wire up. It puts out 475W at 23.7% efficiency, which sits right at the top end for a panel this size.
The standout feature is in the name: low voltage.
Most panels have a higher open-circuit voltage (Voc), and that limits how many you can safely wire together in a single string. This one runs at a lower Voc, around 37V per panel, so you can fit up to 16 panels in a string. Fewer strings means less cabling, fewer connectors and less mounting hardware, which brings down what installers call BOS (balance of system) cost. On a tight or awkwardly shaped roof, it also gives more freedom in how the array gets laid out.
A few other things worth knowing.
Dual-glass build. Instead of a plastic backsheet, this panel has glass on both sides (1.6mm front and back). Glass holds up better over decades of sun, heat and weather, and it earns the panel a Class A+C fire rating.
High efficiency in a compact size. At 23.7%, you get more power per square metre. That’s what counts when roof space is the limiting factor rather than budget.
Long warranty. Trina backs it with a 25 year product warranty and a 30 year performance warranty. The product warranty covers the panel itself, not just its output, and 25 years is well beyond the 10 to 12 years a lot of brands offer.
It’s part of Trina’s Vertex S+ range, which also runs to full-black and black-frame options at other wattages if the look of the panel matters for your roof.
